The Sandwich Generation

The Sandwich Generation is what people are called when they are in the position of taking care of their children and also taking care of their ailing parents. I am now officially a part of this "Generation". My dad is not doing so well these days. He is just 60 yrs old but has the body of an ailing 90 yr old man. Recently he fell down the stairs at home and is now very unstable. He has experienced a lot of loss in this past year. He not only has deteriorating health but his mother (his best friend) also died. Now he is having to move into a new place because the family home is being sold. It has been a tumultuous time and he is very angry. I have been trying to help him through this transition and it is taking a lot of time, effort and emotion. It has been good for me to reconnect with my dad in this way. I encourage you to pray for him as he does not feel well most days and needs to find a new place to live.

Laid Off

I was just reading Stew's blog about True Grit. If you haven't seen it its at : http://thecommunityofhope.blogspot.com/

His site is always very inspirational and these days I need all the inspiration I can get! I just got laid off at work and will now continue the oddessy of looking for a new job. At least the government has the sense not to push you out at Christmas time so at least I can give them credit for that. (Not everyone has that common sense!) I do have a sense of peace about this and am not fearing the unknown as I did before. I believe God will provide something that is right for me. So I encourage you to pray and please if you hear of anything shoot it my way!
